I’ve been teaching German in person and online since 2018 and have accumulated a lot of teaching experience. I found that using course books from Germany are the most efficient way to learn German. In my classes I teach using English and Mandarin Chinese to explain things. I’ve guided total beginner students to achieve Goethe Zertifikat proficiency levels (A1, A2, B1) and helped them enter universities in Germany.
For first-time learners and for students who are looking to advance their German to the next level I recommend using the Schritte International Neu course books from the German publisher Hueber.de. The books are very well structured and cover topics and grammar for each level. They have supporting video and audio content as well as exercises for students to learn and practice at home.
By going through the course books step-by-step, I will teach you fundamental grammar and help you practice it as well as explain concepts and vocabulary usage to you.
If you want to brush up your skills before progressing to the next level that’s also fine. This is often necessary if you’re not living in a German speaking country and don’t have an environment to practice your language skills during daily life.

If you’re planning on taking a German certification exam, I can work through the exam preparation books with you. By doing mock exams I will analyze your weaknesses and help you improve them in order to pass the exam. With proper exam preparation the chances of repeating an exam can be minimized.
