I’ve been teaching German in person and online since 2018 and have accumulated more than 1000 hours of teaching. I found that using course books from Germany are the most efficient way a student can learn German. I’ve guided total beginner students to achieve Goethe-Zertifikat proficiency levels (A1, A2, B1) and would say that for A1 and A2 levels an average student needs around 100-120 hours of classes.
These courses are for first-time learners and for students who are learning a level for the first time. We will mainly use the Schritte International Neu course books from the German publisher Hueber.de. The books are very well structured and cover topics and grammar for each level in a comprehensive and easily understandable way. They have supporting video and audio content as well as revision exercises for students to learn and practice at home.
By going through the course book step-by-step, I will teach you fundamental grammar and help you practice it as well as explain concepts and vocabulary usage to you. For each chapter I have prepared additional exercise sheets for you to further practice the learned content.
This course is for you, if you have learned German at a certain level before and want to brush up your skills at that level before progressing to the next level. It is recommended if you’re not living in a german speaking country and don’t have an environment to practice your language skills during daily life.
We will go through the Deutsch Üben book series at your level. The series consists of three books for each level:
These books cover many topics on that level and are filled with exercises for you to perfect your language skills at that level. We can also go through articles and extra online material if a certain topic interests you.
In this course I will go through exam preparation books with you. I will correct your mock exams, analyse your weaknesses and help you improve and pass your target exam.
Depending on a students ability to learn and apply the language skills, some students can pass an exam without extensive preparation (especially A1, A2). If you aim to pass exams with a >80% grade or plan to take intermediate or advanced level exams, it is highly recommended to practice your language skills at that level and prepare yourself thoroughly for the desired exam.
